Rostov Region Hosted the Most Spectacular Tractor Races In the History of The Sport

19 June 2014

More than 30,000 spectators enjoyed wild tractor races near Rostov-on-Don. Fearless tractor operators at the high-speed circuit with challenging obstacles put their tractors on back wheels, made parallel cabin-deep dives into a ditch, emerged from the water and dived again into a mud pool. The racers made risky curves on full speed, drifted on muddy spots, and without any effort danced Vienneze waltz on heavy vehicles.

Rostov Region Hosted the Most Spectacular Tractor Races In the History of The Sport

On June 14 twenty seven countryside tractor operators from Rostov and Moscow, Krasnodar and Stavropol Regions took part in the XII «Bizon Track-Show 2014» tractor races. Tractor operators from the Republic of Crimea participated for the first time under the Russian flag. Already at the start of the races it became apparent that the spectators should witness something extraordinary — parallel racing, top speed, stunt jumps, and straight-out competition. Everyone has come to win, nobody was ready to give up. Anatoly Shishkin whipped everybody up: at the age of 65, known for his temper, Anatoly was on everyone’s back during the race and applied the full-contact fight tricks when possible. Younger racers — Viacheslav Mironov, Roman Struk, Peter Vuidrenko, Melkon Khochikyan — kept pace with him.

During the first minutes a tractor fell out of the race — the front axle went apart. Two more operators put their tractors on the back wheels, but after «facing the heavens», tractors went back to four wheels normal position, but after this miracle escape they kept on racing. The races didn’t do without the turnovers -you loose control and -Oops! your tractor goes on its side.

The most spectacular was the «Trial» — third leg of the race. On top speed the racers hit a series of underwater iump ramps. The race changed to Russian hills, but all in a 1,5 m deep pool full of mud. The racers call

«Vienneze waltz» — is the art of tractor maneuvering to the music of Johann Strauss. «Laden race» — endurance test both for tractors and men. It was a non-stop knockout game. The tension built up with every tour. The less racers remained the higher were the chances to win.

In the race for the 3rd place the two runner-ups in the laden races with the 2,5-tonne load met — Alexander Ryazantsev, SPK (Agricultural Production Cooperative) «Stepnoy», Tsimliansky District, and Igor Gainullin, ALLC (Agricultural Limited Liability Company) «KrimTeplitsa», Simferopolsky District. According to the results of the races the first at the finish line was the Crimean — well-deserved bronze.

The super final was full of drama. The 1st and the 2nd place were challenged by the best tractor racers of this year — Ali Akhmetov, CJSC named after Lenin, Veselovsky District, and Igor Nosov, SPK (Agricultural Production Cooperative) Kolkhoz «Miussky», Neklinovsky District. If the first competitor was a well-known perspective tractor pilot with the silver and bronze medals of 2012 and 2013 races respectively, then the most notable result of the second competitor was the fifth position in the competition which had took place 3 years ago. The go-ahead signal of the flag and the racer from Vesely escaped on top speed. After he had dashed by the spectators and received a whirl of cheers, he unexpectedly got stuck in a mud-trap. It was possible to get it out of the mud pool with the assistance of a heavy support service tractor. The second race — jump-start and the rival of pilot Akhmetov is lagging far behind. It seems that there is a good chance to retrieve a defeat. However the racer got on top-speed into another mud-trap, and while he had been desperately trying to get out it, Igor Nosov came to finish in relaxed pace for the second time. Prudence beats the temper. The first victory in «Bizon Track-Show» is celebrated by SPK (Agricultural Production Cooperative) Kolkhoz «Miussky», and Anatoly Sobolevsky, the Kolkhoz Chairman.

Traditionally the three best racers were rewarded with the farm tractors as prizes from the Government of the Rostov region.
