The steam engine of the company «Richard Garrett and Sons» , the oldest exhibit of the Bizon agricultural machinery museum, turned 115 this year. Despite its impressive age, celebrated its anniversary in its original form and working condition.

The steam engine was manufactured in Leiston, Suffolk, in 1910. Serial number 28 689 indicates a large scale of production and wide demand far beyond the borders of England.
The machine has got a capacity of 15 HP (steam pressure in the boiler is 8 kg / sq. cm). It was delivered to the work site by horses or a tractor. The external drive is designed to connect stationary devices — a thresher, dynamo, pump, mill, etc. Energy is transmitted by belt traction. The unit was even used for plowing. Installed at the edge of the field, it pulled the plow from the opposite side with the help of a rope.
— Controlling a steam engine requires special knowledge, — said Pavel Avakimyan, a mechanic at the «Bizon» agricultural machinery museum. — You need to constantly monitor the water consumption and steam pressure, while monitoring the operation of the connected agricultural equipment.
